Fauxidermy

Fauxidermy:  Beautiful animal head sculptures man made out of a variety of materials including: resin, metal, cardboard, ceramic, paper mache, etc.

Fauxidermy or Faux Taxidermy has become a popular trend in interior design.  While I'm not a fan of Taxidermy, I love Fauxidermy and am so glad it's been sticking around for a while.  We were recently in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and saw a ton of beautiful uses of Fauxidermy.  I think its a great way to bring a modern vibe to a rustic space or a rustic vibe to a modern space.

Strawberry Love

Strawberry Love

Happy Monday everyone.  I hope you all had a great weekend.  We spent the weekend cleaning and starting to restore little Lucy!  I am beyond excited to show you what we've been up to.  She's going to be so cute!  We've also pretty much eaten strawberries nonstop this weekend.  I was at Costco last week and saw someone walk by with a large container of the most gorgeous strawberries I've ever seen in my life!  I immediately headed toward the fruit section and loaded up my cart.  When I got them home and tasted them I was not disappointed.  They were amazingly sweet and juicy!  I think baby bumblebee may have eaten 5 pints just on his own this weekend.

One of my favorite and most versatile strawberry recipes is this recipe for strawberry syrup.  It is the perfect way to preserve that fresh strawberry flavor for the months to come.  It can be used in SO MANY WAYS!  No matter how many batches I freeze each year, I always seem to run out.  Trust me, you cannot make too much!  Some of the things we love this sauce on are: pancakes, waffles, ice cream, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, crepes, strawberry Italian sodas, the list could go on.  I hope you enjoy this sauce as much as we do.  Have a great week.

Hive 5-Glamping Inspiration

Because I've been basically researching fun glamping ideas and inspiration for my little Lucy nonstop for the past couple of days, I thought I'd share some of my favorites in the Hive 5 today.  For more information click on the links below.

Lucy the Glamper

Lucy the Glamper

It followed me home.  I think I’ll keep her, and call her Lucy.

Yes, you guessed it.  We bought a vintage camper! I cannot contain my excitement!  Isn’t she cute? If you know my husband and me at all, you know that we are NOT considered campers.  In fact, I pretty much strongly dislike camping.  I am a germaphobe, I’m highly allergic to pretty much everything living outdoors, I have a hard time sleeping in any bed but my own, I could go on and on.  Despite all of the MANY reasons it didn’t make a lot of sense to buy a camper, that we would in fact need to take camping, we did it!  And I couldn’t be more excited!

I have wanted a vintage camper for a couple of years.  In fact, at times you could say I was obsessed with them.  Everyone who follows me on pinterest can pretty much attest to that. Sorry pinterest followers.  I don’t know what it is about them, it could be my love for retro and vintage décor, or light and bright colors.  Or maybe it is just how I build things up in my mind to be way more special, amazing, and wonderful than they actually in fact are.  Whatever it was, I was determined to have one and at least give glamping (glamorous camping) a try.

Thanks to my amazing husband for all of the love and support you give me.  For letting me follow my heart and my crazy, sometimes…how can a say this, obsessive passions.  You have made me a very HAPPY CAMPER!

Be sure to stop back by Our Humble Hive. I will be sure to post everything we do to fix her up and bring out her best!  You can be sure there will be a lot of vintage, flowery, bright, happy, décor coming soon!  And maybe some adventurous camping stories-what have we gotten ourselves in to?
